When Katie and Kameron got engaged, they wasted absolutely no time in doing what matters most: contacting a wedding photographer (hi, it’s me).
Every wedding collection I offer includes a complimentary engagement session — usually something we plan for a few months before the big day. But Katie and Kameron? They couldn’t wait. They booked an additional session for Easter weekend because they were just that excited to get in front of my camera and celebrate their new chapter. And I’m so glad they did.
Spoiler alert: It rained on Easter. Hard. But instead of letting it ruin the vibe, we simply pivoted, rescheduling for the very next day. We love flexibility over here. And let me tell you… the universe delivered. I’m talking dreamy temperatures, the perfect golden hour, a light breeze that made everything feel even more cinematic — basically everything you could ask for as a photographer who lives for golden hour magic.
During their session, we talked about their love story — and bestie, it’s a good one.
Katie told me that they met back in high school, and the second she laid eyes on Kameron, she straight up said, “I’m gonna marry him.” Not “maybe.” Not “someday.” Just pure, instant certainty. Talk about a woman who knows what she wants! We love to see it.
Since then, their love story has been the kind you can feel just by being in the same room as them — easy, fun, and full of so much laughter. They’re the kind of couple that remind you why you believe in love in the first place.
For their session, we chose Lake Springfield — a Midwest engagement photography staple for good reason.
It’s like this secret little paradise that gives you everything you could want for gorgeous, editorial-but-fun engagement photos:
Lake Springfield is truly one of my favorite spots as a Springfield photographer because it’s such a blank canvas — no stuffy, boring backgrounds, just natural beauty that lets a couples’ personalities shine.
And for Katie and Kameron? It was perfection.
Katie started telling me about their wedding day plans mid-shoot, and boy howdy, every sentence had me screaming internally like a bonafide fan girl:
Their whole vibe is about celebrating their love in a way that feels right for them — tossing out the “rules” about what a wedding is supposed to look like and making it something that feels genuine, colorful, and completely them.
That’s exactly the energy that makes for not just a gorgeous wedding day, but also wedding photos you actually want to hang up in your house (and not just hide in a dusty album somewhere). That’s that good shit.
From the moment we started shooting, Katie and Kameron just clicked (no pun intended). There was no stiffness, no awkwardness, no fake posing — just two people who are wildly into each other, laughing, playing, and soaking up every second of the sunset.
We ran around the fields. We let the wind do whatever it wanted to their hair. We paused to take in the way the lake glowed as the sun dipped lower and lower.
And through it all, I captured the stuff that actually matters — the little glances, the bear hugs, the real-deal chemistry.
Because here’s the thing:
You don’t need a Pinterest-perfect photo checklist to make magic happen.
You just need two people in love, a little bit of trust, and a photographer who knows how to catch it when it happens.
(Hi again.)
Listen, when I deliver engagement galleries like this one, you’re not gonna find 1,200 shots of the exact same pose with slightly different smiles. Instead, you’ll get a curated collection of the good stuff — the real moments, the best angles, the shots that make you feel something when you look at them.
Katie and Kameron’s gallery is proof that less really is more: Every single photo feels alive, vibrant, and intentional.
As a Springfield Missouri engagement photographer, my goal is never to drown you in a sea of images that all look the same. It’s to hand you a set of memories that feel as unforgettable as the moments themselves.
If you’re someone who’s dreaming of engagement photos that feel fun, natural, and true to you — not forced, stiff, or “posed within an inch of your life” — let’s make it happen. Whether you’re planning something spontaneous like Katie and Kameron or you want to wait and soak up your complimentary engagement shoot a little closer to your wedding day, I’ve got you.
You deserve photos that feel like your actual life — not a weird catalog shoot.
You deserve photos that make you laugh, cry, and maybe even text your best friend, “LOOK HOW HOT WE ARE.”
Katie and Kameron’s Lake Springfield engagement session wasn’t just a celebration of their new engagement — it was a glimpse into the kind of life they’re building together:
That’s what this whole getting married thing should be about.
Not about the perfect dress or the biggest floral arrangement. Not about meeting everyone’s expectations but your own. Just about the two of you. As you are. In love, and ready to take on the world (bolo ties, pink veils, and all).
